Don’t worry about scrambling to find the best venue to mark the special day, because we’ve gathered all the best local purveyors of frozen treats in the Pittsburgh North Area.

Nine Ways to Grill Safely this 4th of July

Categories: Blog, Holidays, News | Posted: July 1, 2017

Barbeque. The word alone brings to mind some of our happiest summer memories. Maybe it’s a family picnic on a hot summer day, or the smell of a charcoal grill drifting by and making your mouth water. At Weaver Homes, we love the way a grill can transform a simple meal into a gathering of friends and family. To protect your loved ones, and your beloved home, follow these nine grill safety tips:

  1. Always make sure your grill is on flat, stable ground, outside, and well away from your home and other building structures.

  2. Keep children and pets at least three feet from the grill.

  3. Before firing up a gas grill, check for leaks. You can rub dish soap on the hoses and connections and look for bubbles. If a line has a leak, turn off the gas completely do not use the grill.

  4. Keep your grill clean to reduce chances of a grease fire.

  5. Make sure a propane grill lid is open before lighting it.

  6. Always be prepared in case of fire. Never pour water onto a grease fire, instead try using baking soda, a fire extinguisher, or a bucket of sand.

  7. Never leave a hot grill unattended.

  8. Remember to let charcoals cool completely before disposing of them in a metal container.

  9. If you ever smell gas while cooking, immediately get away from the grill and call the fire department.

From all of us at Weaver Homes, we wish you safe grilling and a Happy Fourth of July.
